Our location
True Grit is located at 87 Manchester Street in our purpose-built salon. There is on street parking plus a Wilson’s car park conveniently located next door. Entrance off Welles Street.
Appointments
In fairness to all clients, our policy is to reschedule clients who are more than 15 minutes late. New clients are expected 5 minutes before their appointment to fill in our New Client Form. All appointments are confirmed by way of a text message two working days before or phone call the business day before.
New Client Booking & Deposit Policy
First Contact & Booking
- When you contact us by phone, we will ask for your mobile number and email address so we can send you a personalised “What to Expect” email before your first visit.
- If you’re booking a cut-only appointment, please note there is a $50 no-show fee should you not arrive for your booking (or cancel within the required notice period).
Colour & Cut Bookings
- If your appointment involves colour (especially a service that requires significant time or preparation), we highly recommend scheduling a complimentary consultation first.
- At the time of your consultation appointment, we’ll request a 50% deposit to secure your appointment.
- If you prefer to book the full colour and cut over the phone (and are confident you don’t need a separate consultation), we’ll still require the 50% deposit at the time of your booking.
- We’ll take your phone number, and our manager of the day (Lyn or Amy) will call to process your 50% deposit.
- Please note that any re-booking or cancellation must be made at least 48 hours before your scheduled appointment to avoid forfeiting the deposit.
- Deposits are non-refundable in cases of no-show or cancellation within 48 hours of the appointment (unless otherwise agreed under special circumstances).

We value your time and our stylists’ time equally. By securing your booking with a deposit and allowing 48 hours’ notice for changes, it ensures we can plan our day, reserve the correct time for you, and avoid last-minute disruptions.

Cancellation / DEPOSIT Policy
We ask for 48 hours notification of changing/cancelling your appointment. For existing clients, if you fail to do this twice, a $50 fee will incur*. We will require you to pay upfront for your next booking. This payment will be non-transferable/non-refundable. We appreciate your consideration on this matter and would like you to know that this is all at the discretion of management.
All new colour clients will be required to pay a 50% deposit to secure their appointment. We highly recommend organising a complimentary consultation so you can meet your stylist and discuss your hairs needs. At the end of this consultation, should you wish to make an appointment, you will be required to pay a 50% deposit to secure your appointment. If you do not require a pre-appointment consultation, then a deposit will be taken over the phone at the time of booking. This deposit will be put onto your in-salon account. You may reschedule your appointment and transfer your deposit, as long as its at least 48 hours before your booking. Should you cancel/no-show reschedule your appointment within the 48hr time frame, you may forfeit your deposit. Considerations will be given so please consult with management. *Please note that in the 6 weeks leading up to Christmas the policy will be altered to reflect the client’s demands.
Payment
We accept MasterCard, Visa credit cards, EFTPOS and Afterpay. Paywave is now available for your convenience but will incur a 1.9% fee.
SUSTAINABLE SALONS
We are thrilled to announce True Grit is part of the Sustainable Salons network! This is a massive step forward for us as we work to reduce the amount of waste leaving our salon and heading to landfill.
This means that a small $3 Green Fee will be added to your bill at the end of every service with True Grit to pay for the collection and processing of our waste products.

Our Guarantee
You want 100% satisfaction – and so do we! It’s okay to tell us when you are not sure about your hair – in fact, we encourage it! We are not going to make you feel intimidated about mentioning your concerns, we are going to find a solution because we want you to walk out the door with a hairstyle or colour that you are absolutely in love with.
However, we do reserve the right to ask you to give us the full opportunity to rectify the service before we will consider a refund of the service in question. We require you to contact us within a week, so we can help you to love your hair.
Providing that you are using MoroccanOil Professional, Kérastase or other diagnosed salon-exclusive professional products, we happily guarantee our work.
All new clients receive a complimentary ‘style check’ – a blow wave at no charge to you to see how you are enjoying your new style. Conditions apply – please ask.
We reserve the right to decline performing chemical services on hair we don’t feel comfortable colouring, for example, the condition of hair and scalp.
Product Guarantee
We believe in our products, and so should you. If, for any reason, you are not happy with any of your professionally prescribed products, please let us know as we will be happy to exchange them for an alternative for you.
