Our location

True Grit is located at 87 Manchester Street in our purpose-built salon.

Appointments

In fairness to all clients, our policy is to reschedule clients who are more than 15 minutes late. New clients are expected 15 minutes before their appointment. All appointments are confirmed by way of a text message or phone call on the business day before.

Cancellation Policy

We ask for 24 hours notification of changing/cancelling your appointment. If you fail to do this twice and we can’t fill your appointments, a $50 fee will incur*. Also, we will require you to pay upfront for any services you may be wanting, and this payment will be non-transferable/non-refundable. We appreciate your consideration on this matter and would like you to know that this is all at the discretion of management.

All bookings over three hours in stylist/colourist time will require a $100 deposit two working days before your scheduled appointment!  We require your credit card details at the time of booking or at consultation. Alternatively, this deposit can be taken over the phone at the time of booking.  This payment will be non-transferable/non-refundable.
^*Please note that in the 6 weeks leading up to Christmas the policy will be altered to reflect the client’s demands.

Payment

We accept MasterCard, Visa credit cards, EFTPOS and Afterpay. Paywave is now available for your convenience but will incur a 1.9% fee.

SUSTAINABLE SALONS

We are thrilled to announce True Grit is part of the Sustainable Salons network! This is a massive step forward for us as we work to reduce the amount of waste leaving our salon and heading to landfill.

This means that a small $3 Green Fee will be added to your bill at the end of every service with True Grit to pay for the collection and processing of our waste products.

We are very flexible with our consultation appointments and happily do this at no charge.

Skin Sensitivity Testing

As with many everyday substances, hair colourants can cause an allergic reaction. Your wellbeing is important to us, as is your time, so we now offer skin sensitivity tests from Colour Me Safe. You can order your kit directly from Colour Me Safe to test in your own home at your convenience. Color Me Safe will notify us of your results. If time is an issue, Color me safe tests are also available at True Grit.

Because of the changing world we live in today, we highly recommend a sensitivity test at least 48 hours prior to your colour application, even if you have used colourant before

Our Guarantee

You want 100% satisfaction – and so do we! It’s okay to tell us when you are not sure about your hair – in fact, we encourage it! We are not going to make you feel intimidated about mentioning your concerns, we are going to find a solution because we want you to walk out the door with a hairstyle or colour that you are absolutely in love with.

However, we do reserve the right to ask you to give us the full opportunity to rectify the service before we will consider a refund of the service in question. We require you to contact us within a week, so we can help you to love your hair.

Providing that you are using L’Oréal Professionnel, Kérastase and other salon-exclusive professional products, we happily guarantee our work. 

All new clients receive a complimentary ‘style check’ – a blow wave at no charge to you to see how you are enjoying your new style. Conditions apply – please ask.

We reserve the right to decline performing chemical services on hair we don’t feel comfortable colouring, for example, the condition of hair and scalp and subject to a Colour Me Safe test.

Product Guarantee

We believe in our products, and so should you. If, for any reason, you are not happy with any of your professionally prescribed products, please let us know as we will be happy to exchange them for an alternative for you.
