Bad hair days – everyone has them, even us hairdressers! Some days you just don’t have time for a full-blown style, and some days no matter how hard you try, your hair can have a life of its own… Frizzy fringes can be frustrating and limp locks can be a letdown. Wear a Hair Accessory
A bad hair day is a perfect excuse for pulling out some of the great accessories in your closet. A pretty hairband or headscarf can make for a cute look to hide hair that won’t behave and pull focus from any wayward strands. Accessory clips can help you pin back unruly hair into a polished look, and a statement hat can add interest to an outfit while holding hair in place.
Super Quick Wash
A mini wash can give your hair the quick lift that it needs. Save time by taking the front section of your hair (especially good if you have a fringe) and giving it a mini wash in the basin. Blow dry quickly afterwards and style for a fast freshen up. Focusing on the areas that frame your face will fix any oil or flatness and will create the illusion of a full head of clean and styled hair. Simple and smart!
Top Knot or Braid
Some days your bob just won’t sit right or your curls look more lacklustre than luscious. Top knots are a cute way to conceal less than perfect hair and braids can make for a statement look. For a messy top knot gather your hair into a loose bun with an elastic and pull out a few wisps around your hairline to soften. French braids can look very effective and a hairline braid can be a great way to turn a fringe that isn’t behaving into a cool focal point. Braiding your hair on a second or third hair day will help hold the style and allow you to have more time between washes.
Avoid Touching Your Hair
Most people touch their hair at least 20 times a day. A good hair hack for every day (and especially those when your hair is looking dull or oily) is to keep your hands off. Oil from our fingertips can transfer to our hair adding to grease, and touching hair can stimulate oil production at the root – so we want to avoid this as much as possible. Wearing your hair up in a ponytail or bun will mean you’re much less likely to reach up to adjust your do.
