Choose your weapons!
Like any true art form, there are specific tools for precise results. No one was born with a blowdryer in one hand and a round brush in the other so be kind to yourself! Nailing your look will take time as you try new techniques, tools, and products.
Obviously a good blowdryer is a must and a cool blast option is advisable (we love the new Dyson Supersonic).
Brushes come in all shapes and sizes but don’t get the overwhelm! True luxury is never having to compromise so build your collection in stages.
A bristle brush will detangle your locks and smooth it out. A round brush will create volume and waves as you dry. This is where your cool button comes into play. Wrap hair around the brush from the roots and give it a blast. Rollers can also be used for similar effects. For more curls than waves, grab a diffuser to disperse the airflow on your dryer.
If you’re after a little extra volume or backcombing, invest in a teasing brush that can be used for just that (without creating knots for that dreaded morning after de-tangle)!
Straightening irons can be a go-to tool for either curls or straight strands so have a little experiment.
Tricks of the trade
The correct blow-drying technique not only makes you look a million dollars but also minimises hair damage.
Firstly, step away from the bathroom if you want terrific tresses. Humidity can affect the overall look of your blow-dry and adds unwanted frizz.
For a desired sleek look, be sure to blow-dry your hair in the direction it grows and follow that flow. Point the dryer’s nozzle downward to help smooth hair and create shine. For volume, blow it against the grain but set the dryer on low to avoid tangles.
Get the finish on point after completing your blow-dry, by giving your do a jet of cold air. This will set your style and close the cuticles.
