Here at True Grit, we use two types of colouring systems by L’Oréal Professionel, Majirel and INOA. We absolutely love them both, and see them delivering outstanding colour results day in and day out! This being said, each system has its differences. We thought we’d break down some of them so you can make the best colouring decision for you and your hair.
Majirel
Majirel is L’Oréal Professionel’s iconic colouring product. Invented back in 1978 (that’s 41 years ago), it now has 6 sub-brands to show for itself with over 100 shades. The Majirel hair colouring system offers a rich, permanent hair dye which provides perfect coverage of grey hair, all whilst caring for the hair fibre. It creates vibrant and pure reflect colours with a wide palette of rich tones and shades.
A first in professional hair colour, Majirel cares for the entirety of the hair fibre. Enriched with Incell™ and Ionène G™ it helps strengthen and re-inforce the hair, making hair stronger, glossier, softer and more supple to the touch. Us True Grit hair stylists can unleash your perfect tailor-made hair colour with the use of our reliable ol’ pal Majirel.
How does Majirel work:
Majirel, using traditional colour technology, utilises ammonia to swell and lift the hair cuticles to allow colourants to penetrate the hair shaft, deep into the cortex of your hair. It’s often the most drastic and permanent method of colouring your hair.
INOA
INOA – Innovation No Ammonia is L’Oréal Professionel’s leading no ammonia permanent hair colour range with breakthrough Oil Delivery System (ODS2) technology. 2019 marks the 10 year anniversary of INOA’s launch into the hair industry, and a decade later it’s still just as much of a colouring game-changer as before, now boasting over 100 shades as well! Enriched with oils, INOA delivers colour straight to the heart of the hair. What’s left? Bright, beautiful, refreshed, natural-looking coloured hair. With a full range of colours, we can match the perfect INOA shade, or cocktail of shades, for you!
- INOA delivers a unique colour result matched specifically to you that looks natural, shiny and luminous, and covers up to 100% of greys.
- INOA improves the quality of hair by gently colouring, while respecting and protecting the hair fibre.
- INOA provides a superior sensory experience with greater scalp comfort, lack of odour, and the witnessing of incredible hair innovation first-hand!
How does INOA work?
With INOA, an alternative alkaline agent to ammonia, MEA is used in a very low dose to slightly open the hair cuticle. A film of oil then coats the hair propelling the water based colourant into the hair fibre. In INOA’s Oil Delivery System (ODS2) less MEA is used than other ammonia-free permanent colour systems, meaning that there is greater scalp comfort when colouring with INOA, and less smell! The more MEA used the more alkaline. The more alkaline, the more damage and irritation your hair and scalp will feel. That’s why there’s no other ammonia-free colour quite as good as INOA!
