Winter needn’t mean your hair care has to come to a stop, in fact, the colder somewhat slower months can make the perfect time to invest in a little self care, so come spring time your hair is already looking in tip top shape. Here’s our tips for keeping your hair well looked after this season.
Dry your hair
Don’t leave your hair wet when facing the cold outdoors! Remember your granny telling you, “you’ll catch your death”.. well, not only that, it will impact on your strands. If it’s really cold, your hair can actually freeze and without going into a chemistry lesson, let us remind you that water expands as it freezes. Yes, your hair can literally freeze too!
Hats off
Hats are great, we love them and the individual style they add, as well as warmth and cover from the elements but no-one, wants the dreaded ‘hat hair’! Avoid with a nice neat and loose plait. Pop it to the side for a really chic look and avoid the ‘where’s your hair’ question. Alternatively, simply wrap a silk scarf around your hair before popping the beanie or hat over top – no static and no frizz.
Treat yourself
Don’t spend your Winter evenings feeling glum, instead use the time wisely to treat your hair to a number of deeply enriching conditioning treatments. That way you can snuggle up with your book or latest TV series while simultaneously looking after those dry Winter roots.

Wash less
Washing your hair less in Winter can also been hugely beneficial due to the fact that cold outside air and dry indoor air can really start to damage your hair ends. Washing hair too much removes all that necessary natural oil, and in Winter you really want to keep that locked in! Try reducing your washes to two or three times a week, and make sure to dry it thoroughly before getting into bed or leaving the house – no one wants to catch a chill from cold, wet hair!
